Diversity in Business Resources

Diversity in Business Resource (DIBR Registry)

Archive Description

An electronically formatted resource to provide information and contacts targeting diverse individuals interested in starting a business in our J2G region

Strategies (How)

Work with Diversity Council, openBEAM.net IT and other groups to design and build this electronic registry in accordance to the evolving design specification.

Results (Work Products)

Minority groups have better access to business startup opportunities

In June J2G D/I Committee meeting, though Al Lun has built a prototype, decision was made to connect with J2G board for its guidance on the future of this project.

In the April 25 J2G D&I meeting, it was determined since the diversity/inclusion resources registry concept fits the mssion of Diversity Council, Dee Sabol and Al Lun will discuss how Diversity Council as J2G D&I implementation agent may take the registry work forward.

Update Intercultural Cities Initiative (ICI) Index

Plan Description

The Intercultural City Initiative is a bold effort on the part of a wide variety of organizations and individuals to align the collective power, creativity, expertise, and energy of our cities toward a future of inclusive growth. Inspired by the comprehensive and coordinated approach of the Council of Europe Intercultural City program, Minnesota’s Intercultural City Initiative is focused on using high leverage influence strategies to realize this future faster.

June 15, 2018 City of Rochester, MN: Mayor Brede signed ICI pledge

On Wednesday, June 13th, 2018 at 11:00 am, the Journey to Growth team, the City of Rochester and citizens of Rochester will gather in the City Hall Atrium for a special Signing Ceremony, designating Rochester as the first U.S. City to join the Council of Europe’s ICI (Intercultural Cities Initiative) program.

Intercultural Center, Rochester (Creating a 21st Century Community Space)

Concept Description

A Place for All. Third Sector's shared space concept would provide a common entry point to community resources through its "front door" concept. Seeking 40,000 - 50,000 sf of public space for 3 core uses.  Community Cultural Center providing interactive gathering spaces for civic engagement, education, celebration.  Community Front Door offering a centralized entry point for individuals seeking access to community resources and activities.  Nonprofit COOP functions as the enterprise, funding general operations for the entire facility while creating operational efficiencies for NPOs.

We are More

Archive Description

A visual display of the economic and human diversity that comprises the 8 county J2G region. Theme: "We are More" Develop a showcase collage of pictures from communities and cultures highlighting regional locations and sources. Use the model similar to the "Race Exhibit"

April 13, 2016 Journey to Growth Diversity and Inclusion Committee: Update at J2G April Meeting

We Are More traveling art exhibit

Ian Mwangi updated the audience on a proposed new photography exhibit, which will help display the area's diversity.

"We want to show that we are more inclusive," he said.

To do that, they are reaching out to professional and amateur photographers to submit photos showing that inclusiveness. The committee will chose the photos that best depict "economic diversity and inclusivity."

The resulting photo exhibit, We are More" will then tour the region in late 2016.

2024 – 2026 OLMSTED COUNTY COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT PLAN (CHIP) (January 21, 2025)

A Collaborative Community Effort Led by: Olmsted County Public Health Services, Olmsted Medical Center, and Mayo Clinic

The Community Health Assessment and Planning (CHAP) Process is about improving the health and well-being of residents in Olmsted County. Every three years the community conducts a health needs assessment to determine Olmsted County’s health priorities; formulate a plan to address the needs; and publish an annual progress report. Olmsted County Public Health Services, Mayo Clinic, and Olmsted Medical Center engage with diverse partners across our community to lead this process.
