Announcement

Two nationally well-known lifestyle medicine physician and pioneers, Dr. Neal Barnard and Dr. Hans Diehl along with other physicians will present several topics in Rochester.

Both guest speakers have successful evidence-based lifestyle medicine education programs to prevent and even reverse chronic diseases that are lifestyle related for decades. Dr. Neal Barnard will also present to the Cardiovascular Prevention Program and FM grand rounds at Mayo Clinic beside the presentations in the public. We believe the empowerment of education in promoting healthy lifestyle is the effective way to address the health disparity in undeserved population.

Therefore, several events are Free through 3/15 at 125 LIVE and Rochester Public Library.

A series of presentations on 3/16 at the Symposium are for health care professionals, employee health and HR professionals, and students at Health Sciences. Winona State University will issue 0.6 CEUs or 6 contact hours upon the completion of the whole day event.

A Community of Wellness Celebration Gala at Rochester Art Center will be the finale to wrap up the whole week event. We will feature the two guest speakers and serve four-course Whole Food, Plant-based Gourmet dinner to celebrate the growth of lifestyle medicine in Rochester community. Enclosed are program outlines and event brochure. You may find more event detail and schedule on our websites.

About Beam
  • For the commercial sector, we tend to register startup activities (new companies and new commercial projects) that bring diversification and high-impact opportunities to the area.
  • For the non-profit sector, we wish to shine light on all the organizations and services that otherwise labor under relative obscurity.
  • Our hope is that dmcbeam.org will encourage cross-sector collaborations and creative solutions.

While there are a number of registries in the community, dmcbeam.org's  distinct value is to pilot a database with a data structure and categorizations that answer the questions such as: What organizations or projects/programs in our community that have purported relevance with some of the over-arching focuses put forward by initiatives such as DMC, J2G and Health Improvements?

This database could be used as one of the ways to explore the capacities of the community. If you are someone on an exploratory journey to learn about the greater Rochester community. dmcbeam.org could be an interesting first step.
